Just a year after the first procedure, she had gone through more than a dozen procedures.
When she went to the hospital in July 2020, her right foot was purple and cold to the touch. Dr. Judith Lin, a vascular surgeon at the hospital, said in an interview that he had no choice but to amputate the limb above the knee.
